An Adventure Down Under

We leave tonight for Sydney and Adelaide Australia for a two week journey. My husband and I have become members of the OSS: one small suitcase. The miracles of technology go into my oversize handbag: iPod, noise canceling headphones, GPhone for browsing the web, Kindle in place of 6 paperbacks and a small bag to carry all the chargers and cords. My husband's briefcase is slightly less stuffed: iPhone with movies and noise cancelling headphones, and the camera.
I never used to take photographs while travelling. I only took my sketchbook and journal. Then I went to Western China with my painting class. They moved so fast, snapping pictures everywhere. I had no time to sketch, except on the bus, bouncing along. So I adapted. Now I'm addicted to my camera and its flash memory. My pre-occupation, the mystery of the moment, is what will I photograph? In China, it was watery landscape, with that eerie sense I was photographing a painting. In India, the built environment, for its aged and worn loveliness, as well as everything that contained the bright colors of southern India, women in saris, fruit and so on. But Australia? Are there ruins? Is there watery landscape? As the Spanish say: !Vamos a ver!
(We shall see!)
I know what I will write about: Compare and Contrast: Australia, Aussies and USA, Gringos!
